Electronic Mailing List FAQ

I recently joined the DPG and am not sure how to join the Electronic Mailing List (EML).

Welcome to the DPG! To join the EML, simply complete this short form with your name and preferred e-mail address. Our EML Coordinator will then add you to the list.

Educational Resources FAQ

Why are so many resources posted as links? I’m looking for information in PDF or document format.

Due to copyright restrictions, we are unable to provide most resources for direct download. We are in the process of developing NEP-branded handouts on a variety of topics that will be available in PDF, ready to print format.

In the meantime, we are building our resource collection by identifying resources from trusted organizations and linking NEP members to that information.

We provide links to websites because over time, organizations will update their materials for a number of reasons. Recommendations may change, typos may have been identified, additional information may be added, or a resource may simply need a style update. Rather than keep up with uploading new documents each time they are updated, we have found that it is easier to keep up with changes to documents by providing a hyperlink to the organization’s website.

How do you choose which materials to feature?

Featured resources are from trusted organizations that provide science- and research-based information.

  • Professional organizations (e.g., Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Diabetes Association)
  • Government (e.g., USDA, FDA)
  • Accredited universities
  • Extension programs
  • Research foundations (e.g., Joslin Diabetes Foundation)
  • Commodities groups if relevant (e.g., Dairy Council, growers associations)

All resources are reviewed by our Academy liaison before they are posted on the website.

I’m looking for materials on a specific topic. Why is the selection so limited?

We know that as a member of NEP, you are looking for resources you can share with clients and those that can help in your own professional development. We are in the process of building our database and this, of course, takes time.

We thank you for your patience as we work to provide this benefit to our membership.

I know of a great resource! How can I get it on the website?

We welcome user-submitted resources! If you know of a resource that you think would be beneficial to NEP members, please send an e-mail to Leia Flure, Website Content Coordinator, at lweston2@illinois.edu
